The Piedmont Police Department posted an update to this incident on June 11:
We recently alerted the community regarding two sexual assaults that occurred in Piedmont on May 31st. Fortunately, one of our residents had a working camera system that provided crucial video evidence of the crime. This footage enabled detectives to use the FLOCK camera system to identify a possible suspect vehicle. The investigation led detectives to the car’s previous owner in San Jose, who confirmed he had sold the vehicle but provided information about the new owner. The new owner then identified who was using the car during the time of the incidents, leading detectives to a potential suspect. On June 5, the suspect voluntarily came to the police department at the request of detectives. Upon arrival, the suspect matched the individual in the original video. During an interview, he confessed to being involved in the assaults. The suspect was subsequently arrested for sexual battery and booked into Santa Rita Jail without incident.
An unknown male suspect is being sought after allegedly touching two women inappropriately on May 31.
The first reported incident happened at 9:24 a.m. on Bonita Avenue. A woman was walking and a man approached from behind and grabbed the woman’s buttocks and then fled, according to a Piedmont Police Department post on Facebook. Shortly thereafter, a second incident, similar to the first, happened on Pala Avenue. The suspect exited a dark-colored Toyota Prius before the assault, according to the Facebook post. The man was described as a light-skinned male in his mid-20s wearing dark clothing.
Captain Chris Monahan said the Department is looking for leads from video. The Facebook post asked any residents with video or additional information to contact Piedmont Police at (510) 420-3000 and ask for Detective Jorge Faucher.

A field sobriety test was administered that indicated she was under the influence and Captain Monahan said it was discovered she had a suspended driver’s license due to a prior DUI.
The driver was arrested and taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
At 1:24 a.m. on May 30, a green 1999 Mercury Mountaineer was observed by police driving at a high rate of speed on Grand Avenue. The driver was pulled over, according to Captain Monahan, and showed signs of being under the influence.
Field sobriety tests were administered and a preliminary alcohol screening came back at 0.130 blood alcohol content, according to Captain Monahan. The driver also had a suspended license.
