The following communication was sent by the Piedmont Recreation Department on Wednesday, May 27:
The Recreation Department is working to find a balance between re-opening the summer for our families and keeping everyone as safe as possible. In re-opening, the goal for summer camps is to keep children together in small groups (“stable groups”) for as long a period as possible to limit the transmission of the virus. The more people move around in their communities and have contact with different groups of people, the more likely the virus is to spread. The current Alameda County recommendation for summer camps is to keep those “stable groups” together for 4 weeks. Unfortunately, our typical camp format (week-long camps) does not meet the County recommendation.
In light of this, we have cancelled all of our original June summer camps (and classes). We will automatically credit your account (see below for refund information). This includes all contract camps/classes, PRD camps/classes*, tennis camps/classes and swim camps/lessons.
We will continue to monitor the County recommendations and if they are adjusted, we will work with our Instructors to find ways to provide additional offerings in July.
For now, we will be focusing our efforts on Camp (Almost) Everything and online classes for the month of June and will announce any new July programming in mid-June. Thank you for understanding and support as we navigate this ever changing landscape.
Refunds:
Beginning May 27th, if you would like to request a refund instead of a credit for any summer enrollment, please contact prdrefunds@piedmont.ca.gov. Please provide the name of your child(ren) and the camp/program that was cancelled.
