Piedmont police arrested a man for narcotics and probation violations on March 7. A report had come in at 4:53 a.m. that a white Acura was speeding on Kingston Avenue.
Police found the vehicle parked with a male driver and female passenger. The male produced a passport for identification and he was found to be on probation.
According to Piedmont Police Capt. Chris Monahan, a search found a “small clear bundle of a white powdery substance” in one of his pockets. A folded-up dollar bill was also found, with a white powdery substance inside, Monahan said.
A small metal container was in a cupholder in the vehicle and inside was a small, clear baggie with an unknown white powdery substance inside, Monahan said. The suspect was arrested and taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
Also on March 7, a 2016 Buick alerted the city’s Automatic License Plate Reader system at Grand and Wildwood avenues. Police located the vehicle in the 7-11 parking lot at Grand Avenue and Mandana Avenue, according to Monahan. He said the vehicle was wanted out of Emeryville for fleeing from police.
Two people were detained. Monahan said Emeryville police no longer wanted the vehicle and only wanted the occupants identified. The vehicle was released to the registered owner and both people in the vehicle were released without incident, according to Monahan.
On March 2, a blue 2017 Toyota Prius was pulled over on Grand Avenue for unsafe speed and swerving in and out of a lane. The officer determined the driver was showing signs of intoxication, according to Monahan. He said the suspect dropped to his knees after exiting the vehicle, refused to stand up, requested medical attention and then refused medical attention when the fire department arrived on the scene.
The suspect was taken to Santa Rita Jail and booked for DUI and delaying police.
On March 6, a black BMW 750I was driving slowly in the bike lane on Grand Avenue and Oakland Avenue. The officer who pulled the vehicle over determined the male driver was showing signs of intoxication, according to Monahan. He said the driver was unable to complete field sobriety tests and declined a chemical test, so a blood draw warrant was obtained.
The suspect was taken to Santa Rita Jail for DUI.
