Season ends with loss to Foothill
Piedmont High School’s boys lacrosse team saw its season come to an end in a 10-6 loss at Foothill in the first round of the North Coast Section Division 2 playoffs on May 6.
The fourth-seeded Falcons advanced to face No. 5 Terra Linda on May 8.
The Highlanders played well in the first half, taking a 5-2 lead into halftime. But Foothill came back to dominate the second half.
Brendan Devine had three goals for Piedmont while Connor Fredericks scored twice. P.J. Brayer had the other goal for the Highlanders. Gus von Metzsch had 15 saves.
Darrin Lau led the Falcons with four goals. Grady DiMichael had three, A.J. Becker had two and Avery Fink had one. Alex Morgan recorded 10 saves.
Piedmont scored the first two goals of the game with Fredericks and Devine finding the net. DiMichael got one back but Fredericks scored again and it was 3-1 after the first quarter. Devine and Brayer scored in the second quarter sandwiched around a Becker goal.
But Foothill locked down on defense in the second half and scored four goals in each of the third and fourth quarters.
Piedmont finished the season 4-11. Foothill is 12-8.
