Great Dickens Christmas Fair marks 40th year of transporting visitors to Victorian England

Jigs will be danced, the streets of London will be strolled, ale will be consumed and all kinds of other entertainments will be enjoyed on the opening day of the Great Dickens Christmas Fair at the Cow Palace in Daly City on Saturday.

This is the 40th year for the event, officially titled the Great Dickens Christmas Fair and Victorian Holiday Party. The fair will be taking place on weekends and the day after Thanksgiving, through Dec. 22.

Fairgoers can experience recreations of the streets of London from the times of Charles Dickens, encounter performers dressed as characters from his novels and watch scenes from “A Christmas Carol” performed onstage. Other offerings include merchandise for sale and ballroom and English country dance music.
